Project Revolution celebrates 5th year

Excitement was bubbling up from members of the Five Rivers District Council of Youth Ministry (DCYM) for months before the 2012 Project Revolution, the Five Rivers District youth rally. This year, the rally was at Worden United Methodist Church Sept. 8-9. This was the fifth year for the event.

During spring break, a group of Kansas East Conference youth traveled to Tahlequah, Okla., to study the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference and the Trail of Tears. Tahlequah is the capital of the Cherokee nation.

Youth 'recharge' at spiritual gathering

The Conference Council on Youth Ministries celebrated and renewed their walk with Jesus Christ at a gathering on Jan. 28 at Lawrence First United Methodist Church West Campus.
After lunch, the RezLife youth band from Church of the Resurrection in Leawood led the 125 participants in worship. Pastor Jacob Cloud taught the group and led small-group study.

Project Revolution successful despite difficulties

The fourth annual Project Revolution lock-in/youth rally attracted more than 100 youth from 12 churches in the Five Rivers District.
The rally was a special challenge this year because the planning group found out in the spring that their budget was drastically cut. Furthermore, half of their funds had already been spent due to scholarships that didn’t come out of the 2010 budget as planned but were deducted in the beginning of 2011.
