The Kansas East Conference has joined the fight to end malaria on the continent of Africa. Kansas Area Bishop Scott Jones announced a goal of every local congregation in the state doing something to raise funds to fight this preventable, treatable and beatable disease by Dec. 31, 2013.
Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa. It kills an estimated 655,000 people each year, most of them children under 5 and pregnant women. Malaria is caused by a parasite transmitted through the bite of a female anopheles mosquito.
But, malaria is 100% preventable, treatable and beatable!
Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary ministry of The United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the death of a child or a mother.
"God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine." Ephesians 3:20
