Kansas Area Goal Evaluation

Kansas East Mission:

Strategy and Measures by end of 2012

New church starts in the Area (10 between 2008-2012).

  • Kansas East started 5 new churches
  • Kansas West has started 3 new churches, but plans to start two more by year-end

Annual growth in worship attendance.

  • This goal was not met.

Double the number of active students in United Methodist campus ministries by 2011 from 276 to 552.

  • 685 students are actively involved in campus ministry in Kansas

75% of churches reporting growth in professions of faith.

  • Only 28% of congregations reported a profession of faith in 2011.

Increase youth participation at the local church by 6 percent per year.

  • Saw an increase in 2010, but a reduction in 2011. There is still work to do here.

Increase participation in United Methodist camps by 5 percent.

  • Had a decrease in camping numbers in 2011 after several years of growth.

Increase participation in small groups by 5 percent a year.

  • Did not meet this goal. Participation has increased but has not yet reached the 5 percent annual goal.

 

At least one trained disaster response contact/coordinator for each local church

  • 56 percent of congregations have a designated contact.

Improve apportionment payout by 2 percent each year.

  • In 2011, the conference was at 84.6 percent, a tremendous improvement over 2010.

Have 10 percent of worship attenders participate in a hands-on mission experience.

  • Goal was met.
